How it works

From timesheet to bank account

Three steps, repeated every week or month. You will always know where your money is.

1

Send us your timesheet

Submit your approved hours online or by email. We check everything is in order and query anything that looks wrong before it becomes a problem.

2

We invoice and chase

We raise the invoice on your agency, allocate the payment and chase anything overdue. Credit control is our job, not yours.

3

You get paid

Once funds clear, we run payroll and pay you through PAYE with a proper payslip. Same-day payment options are available.

Why TJL

Ten years of contractor payroll, and the agency relationships to match

For over a decade we have worked with contractors across the UK, which means we already know how agencies operate, how payments get held up, and how to stop that becoming your problem.

We work with over 1,000 UK agencies, so whether you are one week into your first contract or ten years in, there is nothing about your assignment we have not handled before. And when something needs a judgement call, you get an adviser who will talk it through rather than a ticket number.

Your own expert adviser

A named team who know your assignment. Free consultation whenever you need a second opinion.

Credit control, handled

Chasing late agency payments is one of the least enjoyable parts of contracting. It is not yours to do.

Compliant by default

You are employed and paid through PAYE, with tax and National Insurance reported to HMRC in real time.

An umbrella company employs you directly and handles your invoicing, payroll, tax and National Insurance. Your agency or end client pays the umbrella, the umbrella pays you through PAYE, and you stay an employee with full employment rights.

Once your approved timesheet has been received and funds have cleared from your agency, we process payment. Same-day payment options are available โ€” ask us when you sign up.

Yes. Nothing stops you changing umbrella company part-way through an assignment. You tell your agency where to send payment, and we handle the onboarding so there is no gap in your pay.

A flat fee of ยฃ105, whatever your situation. You submit your information online and our team handles the submission to HMRC.

Yes. Under an umbrella you are a PAYE employee, so income tax and National Insurance are deducted at source and reported to HMRC through real-time information. Your IR35 status is determined by your end client, not by the umbrella company.
